LETTER FROM THE SECRETARY GENERAL
Dear Delegates,

It is with the most immense honour and joy that I welcome you to J.B. MUN 2024. After months of preparing, it's hard to believe that it’s finally time. This is the 8th edition of our esteemed conference and on the behalf of the entire secretariat I can say that we could not be more honoured to be a part of it.
Over the past three years MUN has proven to be an invaluable part of my high school years. Writing this letter feels like a dream, because I never thought that I would get the honour to be in this position. It feels like it was just yesterday that I was sitting in the J.B. hall, attending my first ever conference two exciting years ago. Since then many MUNS and moons have gone by and now we’re here. What I’m trying to say is that I know how you feel. The feeling of not being prepared enough, thinking that you’re not going to make it, seeing all these older talented, confident delegates around you, it’s extremely intimidating. What you don’t realise right now, is that it’s the intimidation that fuels you and helps you grow. The first speech you make without looking at the paper, the first chocolate the chair gives you, the first deafening table banging your smart response gets and of course your first award, all these things will never happen if you don’t put yourself out there enough.
MUN is all about experience. I could write you a thousand study guides and you could know the procedure like the back of your hand but all that doesn't matter until you actually feel it, experience it. Knowing what a MUN conference will be like and actually attending one are entirely different things. I hope that all of you, more than anything, enjoy this conference with all your hearts. Speak confidently, make smart choices, collaborate but always keep your guard up. If after the closing ceremony I see smiles on your faces and hear you'll say that you can’t wait for J.B. MUN 25, I will consider mine and the secretariat’s job done.
MUN is the best stage for young adults like us to voice our opinions about pressing world issues. Which is why it’s imperative for us to catch this opportunity and make the most of it, because in the end our future is our responsibility. With that delegates, I wish you the best of luck and I know that with the right amount of hard work, determination and competitive spirit, you will definitely make yourselves proud.

Dear delegates,
It is with immense pride and deep satisfaction that I welcome you to The J.B. Petit High School for Girls Model United Nations 2024.
This conference can only be described as unique. JBMUN is an experience that encourages you to challenge the limits of your skills, step past your boundaries and grow, not only as a delegate in a simulation of the UN, but as a participating member of the international community. Our dynamic committees necessitate critical thinking, firm leadership, collaboration and global awareness. Fostering constructive debate on a wide variety of agendas, the eighth edition of JBMUN will empower you to develop innovative solutions for pressing global challenges.
In my own life, MUN has shown me the importance of thorough preparation, active engagement, and understanding different perspectives. It has also taught me skills including effective communication and diplomacy. This journey has transformed me into a more confident individual. I have learned to articulate my thoughts clearly, listen to others, and collaborate to find solutions to complicated issues. These skills not only help you excel in your academics and activities such as MUN and debate, but are essential in all aspects of life, including the personal and professional relationships you may form in your future pursuits.

Our organizing team has worked tirelessly to ensure that delegates will leave JBMUN with a rewarding experience. I encourage you to engage fully, connect with fellow delegates, and simultaneously embrace the spirit of both competition and collaboration. Together, we can inspire change and contribute to a better future.

Dear Delegates,

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the JB MUN 2024. Taking part in MUNs and interacting with all the delegates over the years, has been a major shaping force in my life and I hope it will be the same for you.
​
Participating in MUNs opens up a whole new world of opportunity for not only becoming familiar with and analyzing global problems, but also learning to develop a logical approach towards providing practical solutions to those problems. No other forum allows you to express yourself so freely albeit in a measured and disciplined manner : the very foundation of diplomacy. MUNs allow you to understand and analyze the stance of different countries on critical global situations as well as give you a thorough understanding of how diplomatic relations between nations and blocs work. A MUN conference not only hones your debating skills but also teaches you the art of negotiation and reaching a consensus or sometimes a compromise on world matters. Not only that, it allows you to develop writing and drafting skills and spruced up your presentation skills. Overall, it is a highly engaging and fulfilling process, that all students should experience.

For me, participating in MUN has allowed me to explore the various facets of my personality, develop a more confident persona as well as geared me for real world situations .
I hope that your MUN experience helps you to develop a more well rounded personality as it has done for me and that it enriches your life with the plethora of new experiences that it offers. The very best to you for JB MUN 2024
